While waiting for cherries to arrive so that I can attempt the Blackforest Cake, I thought I should have a trial run on the chocolate sponge.  You can never have too little practices.  

And I was right, because…it didn’t turn out quite the way I wanted.  I was looking for a more pronounced chocolate flavour although it was okay on its own.  Okay, but not spectacular. 

Since I had raspberry & rose buttercream leftover from making these macarons,  I could do a little bit of fancy schmancy all in the name of prettifying my desserts.  It was just as well, I won’t need to whip up another batch of cream for it.  Waste not, want not.  

Something simple, and it’s back to the drawing board.
